Rules and Regulations

The Nelson Mandela Bay Ocean Racing Series consists of a short (1km) and long (3km) Ocean Swim, a 5km Ocean Paddle and a 5km Beach Run/Walk for adults and a 1km Beach Run/walk for kids 12 years and under.

Please ensure that you have read and understand the Series Disclaimer and the Series Rules before completing your entry form.

Some facts we would like highlighted:

  • Registration packs are not a condition of entry but an incentive to register early. If eligible for a pack, you are required to collect this before the first race day. Failure to collect the pack will result it in being reallocated.
  • Wetsuits are allowed in both the short and long course swims. No other swim aids will be permitted.
  • Personal Floating Devices (PFD's / "lifejackets") are compulsory for the Ocean Paddle event
  • No decals - other than those supplied for the ORS, the manufacturer decals and CSA numbers - may appear on the front of the Surf Ski's from the position of the pedals without written permission from the ORS organisers.
  • All participants must report to the registration gazebo on race day to enter for their particular event on the day and to receive their race wrist band.
  • Race day entries are open from 07h30 to 08h50 on Race Days.
  • All finishers will be eligible for lucky draw prizes.
  • Prize winners must be present to claim their prize.
  • The onus is on the participant to check the results and to ensure that any problems are reported before the following race. No corrections will be made after this time.
