South Africa's Family Lifestyle Series

The Series offers a fantastic way to stay fit in a casual, friendly and safe environment. Participants of all ages and fitness abilities are encouraged to join in the fun of the Series which is great for families.

Over R200,000 worth of prizes will be up for grabs for all finishers during the Series, including over R40,000 cash.

Race days are held on mostly alternate Sunday mornings throughout summer.

5 events to choose from on Race Day (run simultaneously)
- Two ocean swims (1km or 3km),
- 5km ocean paddle,
- 5km beach run/walk,and
- a 1km Kids (12u) run/walk.

Come join us at Hobie Beach on race days this summer and jump into your favourite event. Early arrival is recommended and entries are open from 7.30am with racing getting underway at 9am. Kids prize giving (1km run) will take place at about 09:50am followed by our Reach for a Dream presentation and main prize giving starts at 10.15am.

Entry Fee?

Series membership fee of R100 to secure your Series number and clothing;

Ocean Swim / Ocean Paddle - R60
5km Beach Run - R40
Kids 1km Beach Run - R20

A temporary membership fee of R20 will apply for all who aren't members on race day

Ocean Swim Races

Two swim races on race days, a short course and a long course swim. The 1km Ocean Swim will consist of a one lap 1km swim - the wearing of the branded Series swimming Cap is compulsory with replacement caps for sale on Race Days.
The long course swim is a 3km Ocean Swim consisting of 3 laps of the 1km course with swimmers STAYING in the water during the laps (ie no transition) - wearing of the branded Series swimming Cap is compulsory.

Beach Run / Walk

The 5km Beach run/walk is arguable one of the most scenic runs in the country. An out and back course from Hobie Beach to the Beacon (Admiralty Way) and back.

Varsity College Ocean Paddle

The Varsity College 5km Ocean Paddle will be a two lap course off Hobie Beach, just outside of the swim track. Any form of single or double paddle craft will be permitted. Supplied craft decals are compulsory on all craft.

How to enter?

The easiest is to enter online… The benefit of online entry is that we get accurate (as you provide) info and you receive an immediate confirmation together with your Series race number.

Entry forms are also available from News Cafe, Triangle Sports and most leading sports stores within Nelson Mandela Bay. These can be completed and faxed (or emailed) to us. Forms can also be dropped off at our offices.

Race Day requirements

Entries / new memberships open from 7.30am. R20 temporary membership fee applies to non-members
* All those with Series numbers - pay and collect race bands from the Zports Gazebo.
* New members / temporary entrants - complete entry forms at table provided and pay & collect band from the late entries Gazebo.
Swimmers MUST wear the correct swim cap (replacement caps available at R20) AND you may not REMOVE your swim cap until you have crossed the finish area (this is another of those television requests).
Paddlers have to have lifejackets and supplied stickers on their craft - no other sponsor decals on the front of craft will be permitted.
